Objective
Create a new identity for The McNay Art Museum that better represents the local culture and history of one of the most important art collections in San Antonio.
Approach
The McNay Art Museum, founded by Marion Koogler McNay, is the oldest art museum in San Antonio. While featuring local Texas-based artists, the McNay is also home to famous works of art by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, and many more.
In order to accurately represent the history of The McNay, the design is centered around the architecture of the museum. The mark illustrates the classic Spanish tile that decorates the original 1927 structure, and the font represents the modern addition built in 2008. The color palette is a collection of colors found in the tile work.
